Privacy policy
At Seek For Sugar we handle your data with care. This page explains what we process, why, how long we keep it and how to have it deleted.
Who is responsible for your data?
Seek For Sugar is a platform of MH Media Online. We are responsible for processing your data. You can reach us at info@seekforsugar.com.
What data do we process?
your login details (email address and password)
your profile: name or nickname, age, photos, text, intentions and preferences
your place of residence (the place only, never an address)
your conversations, messages and connections with other members
payment details if you have a paid membership reside at our payment provider Mollie; we do not see full card or bank details ourselves
technical data, such as your IP address and what we need to limit abuse
Why and on what basis?
to provide your account and membership
to keep the platform safe, prevent abuse and enforce the rules
to keep our accounts
for your intentions and preferences, to the extent they say something about your sex life: only with your explicit consent, which you give when signing up and can withdraw at any time.
Who do we share your data with?
We do not sell your data. We use a limited number of parties to make the platform work: hosting provider, payment provider, email delivery. They may only use your data to carry out their task for us. Where necessary or required, we share data with the authorities.
Moderation and safety
Reported conversations may be viewed by our moderation team to check safety and compliance with the rules. This access is logged for audit purposes.
Having your data deleted
You can delete your account and your data yourself: in your account, go to My account and choose Delete your account. You confirm with your password, and it is done immediately. Can you no longer log in? Then send your request to info@seekforsugar.com. We will confirm that we received your request and exactly what will happen, within one month, as the GDPR requires. After that we will not send you anything more: your email address is also deleted when we erase your data, and we do not want to write to an address we have just promised to forget.
What we delete
We delete your profile, your photos, your intentions and preferences, your conversations and messages, your connections and your login details. This happens immediately once the request is carried out: there is no cooling-off period in which we keep your data a little longer.
What we keep
For moderation decisions and reports we keep only the core for five years: that there was a decision or report, why, and how it was handled. We remove your name, your email address and the free text that went with it. We keep this to be able to account for how we handle safety, and to defend ourselves if necessary. After that it is also deleted.
Payment records (such as invoices) are kept for seven years, because the law requires us to keep our accounts. After that we delete them.
Photos in the photo vault
Photos you put in your photo vault are also reviewed by our team before they become visible, and that review applies for as long as the photo is on the platform. This is needed to check that a photo meets our rules. Other members only see a vault photo if you give them access, or if you are friends.
Photos in a conversation
A photo you send in a conversation is visible for thirty days. After that the photo disappears from the conversation and the file is deleted from our storage. The message itself stays, with a note that the photo has expired. Only you and the member you are writing to can see the photo, and only while your conversation is open. We remove location data from a photo before it is sent.
Your place of residence and distance
You choose your place of residence from a list of places in Europe. For that place we keep the name, the country and a code. For every place in the list we know the centre, never an address. We use this only to show members within a distance and to sort by distance. We never show distances or coordinates: not to other members, and not to you. If you choose a different place under Discover, we do not store it on your profile. What you type to search for a place stays on our own servers and is not stored. To limit abuse we only count how often searches are made from an IP address, and we keep that count for two days at most. The place data comes from GeoNames and is licensed under CC BY 4.0. We made a selection from it and chose Dutch names where possible.
Your rights
You have the right to access your data, have it corrected or deleted, restrict the processing, object, and take your data with you. You can arrange much of this yourself in your account. For the rest, email info@seekforsugar.com. We reply within one month. If you disagree with how we handle your data, you can file a complaint with the Dutch Data Protection Authority (Autoriteit Persoonsgegevens) or the Belgian Data Protection Authority (Gegevensbeschermingsautoriteit).
Cookies
We only use necessary cookies.
Age
Seek For Sugar is only for people aged 18 and older. We knowingly do not process data of minors.
Changes
We may amend this policy. The current version is always on this page. We will inform you by email of important changes.
