How we review every profile by hand

A magnifying glass on a wooden table

At Seek For Sugar no profile becomes visible until our team has checked it by hand. Not an algorithm that lets everything through, but people who review every profile and every photo. In this post we explain why we do it, what we look for, how long it takes and what you notice of it.

Why by hand, and not automatically

Many dating sites let new profiles go live immediately and only step in when there are complaints. That is fast, but it also means fake profiles, minors and people with the wrong intentions are sometimes visible for days before anyone notices.

We deliberately choose a different approach. In sugar dating everything revolves around trust and discretion. Members share personal stories, photos and expectations. You only do that if you can count on the people on the other side being real. That is why we review every profile before it becomes visible, not afterwards.

What we look for

In every review we check a few fixed points:

  • Authenticity. Is the profile genuine? Are the photos of the person themselves and recent? We reject profiles with photos from the internet, of famous people or of someone else.

  • 18+. All members must be adults. If we are in doubt, we ask for additional confirmation or reject the profile.

  • Photos. Photos must be appropriate: no nudity, no suggestive images, no photos of others without their consent.

  • Tone and intent. A profile that offers or asks for sexual services, mentions amounts or does not respect the tone of the platform does not go live.

  • Privacy. We let you know if you accidentally share too much, such as a surname or a phone number in your profile text.

If a profile is rejected, we tell you why, so you can adjust it.

How long it takes

We review most profiles within a day. At busy times it can take a little longer. You receive a message as soon as your profile is visible. If you later change your photos or profile text, those changes are reviewed again before they become visible.

What happens after a report

We keep paying attention after the review too. If a member sees a profile that is not right, or someone behaves badly, he or she can use the report button. Every report is looked at by our team. Depending on what we find, we issue a warning, restrict an account or remove the profile.

A report is always confidential. The reported member does not see who made the report.

What we never do

Just as important as what we do is what we do not do:

  • We do not share your details with other members or with third parties for marketing.

  • We never show your photos to non-members; they sit behind the login and in your private photo vault.

  • We do not make your profile findable through Google.

  • We do not create fake profiles to make the site look busier.

What you can do to speed up the review

A complete and honest profile is approved fastest. Use recent, sharp photos that clearly show your face and that you took or had taken yourself. Write a profile text in your own words, without contact details, amounts or links. And fill in your details truthfully. If our team is in doubt, we will contact you.

What you notice of it

For you, manual review mainly means peace of mind. You know that the people you meet have been checked by us. You need to be less wary of fake profiles, and you can focus on what matters: a good introduction.

Of course your own vigilance remains important. No system is watertight. In safe sugar dating: 10 agreements with yourself you read how to stay in control yourself. And if you first want to know what sugar dating involves, read what is sugar dating?.
